Kinetic Triathlon Festival
The Kinetic Triathlon Festival is a weekend of triathlon racing staged at Lake Anna State Park. The event offers three distance options with swim starts from a sandy beach and run courses that remain inside the state park. The swim courses use a rectangular layout with two turns and sighting buoys roughly every 75 meters; water temperatures have historically ranged from the mid 60s to low 70s and a temperature reading is posted the Thursday before the event.
Course characteristics:
- Long Course (Half): 1.2 mile swim; 57 mile bike; 13.1 mile run
- Olympic: 1.5K swim; 40K bike; 10K run
- Sprint: 750 m swim; 15.5 mile bike; 5K run
Bike routes follow rolling rural roads on generally good pavement and include multiple aid stations and course support. The Long Course bike totals about 2000 feet of climbing; the Long Course run is three loops with roughly 800 feet of elevation gain and aid stations about every mile. The venue provides banked seating and elevated viewing areas that make the swim and finish spectator friendly. Packet pickup is available both the day before and on race morning; participants must present photo identification. The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and includes standard categories such as age group, aquabike, military, Clydesdale, Athena and relays. Cutoff times apply for each distance.
