Kim's Kindness Event
The Kim's Kindness event takes place at Mattituck Junior-Senior High School on Main Road in Mattituck, New York. This community sports gathering serves as a fundraiser for local scholarship funds and community organizations. The proceeds support annual scholarships for graduating seniors at Mattituck High School as well as various donations to charitable groups.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 3.1 Miles: A 5K run-walk through the local area.
- 0.5 Miles: A half-mile walking course.
- 500 Yards: A children's fun run specifically for participants aged 10 and under.
The event features specific activities for younger children, including a 25-yard dash for those aged 1 to 5 and a 100-yard dash for those aged 6 to 10. Jogging strollers are permitted during the fun run. Participants who register by mid-March receive dry-fit t-shirts. The event atmosphere includes music, food, raffles, and medals for participants.
Awards are provided for the 3.1 Miles 5K race only. Recognition is given to the top three male and female finishers overall. Additionally, the event recognizes the top three male and female finishers in age groups ranging from 1-10 through to 80+. Registration is open to individuals and teams, with options available for those who wish to fundraise without participating in the athletic events.
