Lewis Memorial 10 Miler
The Lewis Memorial event is a prediction race of 10 Miles held at the Palmieri Activities Center (PAC) on the Mount St. Mary's campus in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Participants may not wear watches; the winner is the runner whose finish time is closest to their predicted time. For FSRC Grand Prix scoring, results are based on actual finish time.
The course is mostly paved, includes about one mile of unpaved road, and features very hilly terrain. There is a 2 hour 30 minute time limit, which corresponds to roughly 15 minutes per mile and restricts slower walkers from completing the course within the event window.
Registration is managed online; in-person registration is not offered, though mobile registration at the venue is noted. Race-day bib pickup takes place inside the PAC building. The event is free for Steeplechaser club members; nonmembers may join the club for a fee.
Weather can affect the event; announcements about cancellations are made on the Frederick Steeplechasers Facebook group and registered participants will be notified by email. Participants commonly bring a food item to share while results are posted. Volunteers are requested to support parking, course marshaling, timing, and related tasks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
