18th Kilmaurs Gala 5K Fun Run
The Kilmaurs Gala 5k Fun Run takes place on 29 July 2026 and is organised as the event's 18th annual running. The run is a 5 kilometre race that starts and finishes on the running track in Morton Park, Kilmaurs (KA3 2RB). The first 1.5 km are inside the park before the route follows Kilmarnock Road and local countryside; the highest point is at about 3.5 km, after which the route descends back to the track for the finish.
Entries are limited by the organisers to a maximum of 300 places and a waiting list is used when places are full. Entry is by online pre-registration only; no entries are taken on the day. Participants collect an electronic timing chip and race number at registration and should be able to provide photo ID to avoid number transfers.
The event uses electronic timing and is held under UK Athletics rules with a scottishathletics licence. All finishers receive a medal and a range of individual and team prizes are offered, including extended junior and youth categories. Course record times are listed at male 14:40 and female 16:58. Facilities at Morton Park include limited changing, additional toilets, a secure baggage area and nearby car parking with short walks to registration. Restrictions: no dogs, no pushchairs, course unsuitable for wheelchairs, and no earphones that restrict hearing.
Children's races are held on the track before the 5k; these are free on the night and all participants receive a medal. The organisers reserve the right to modify, cancel or reschedule the event for safety reasons, with refunds or deferrals handled at their discretion and communicated to entrants.
