Kilburn Kanter
The Kilburn Kanter is a Long Distance Walkers Association challenge walk organised by the North Yorkshire local group. The 37th running takes place on Saturday 7 November 2026. The event is a 24 mile route across the Hambleton Hills with approximately 3,500 ft of ascent and a time allowed of ten hours.
The route starts and finishes in Kilburn and passes Scotch Corner, Cold Kirby, Tylas Farm, Hawnby, High Paradise, Boltby, Gormire Lake and the White Horse before returning to Kilburn. Entrants must follow the published route and visit all checkpoints. Anyone retiring must do so at a checkpoint; a vehicle described as the Body Wagon will return retired participants to event headquarters. LDWA marshals may retire participants who fail to comply with event rules or who are judged unfit to continue.
Entry is by online registration only, with separate entry fees for LDWA and non LDWA members. The entry fee includes tea and toast at the start, refreshments en route, an event badge and a certificate. Refunds are subject to a small administration fee and specific cutoff dates apply.
Participants are asked not to bring dogs and to take all rubbish home. Required kit includes a map, compass, waterproofs, fleece, whistle, torch, first aid kit and a mug suitable for use at checkpoints. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
