Event overview

The Kick for Kenya 5K takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Boise, ID at Eastwind Community Church, 4750 South Surprise Way, 83716. The event is a single 5K run/walk. Proceeds support community development training and projects in rural eastern Kenya in partnership with Kenya Kids, the Touch Africa Child Education Programme (TACEP), and local Kenyan community partners. Funds will be used for educational opportunities, public health, and food and water security. Long-term project goals include a community center with space for field staff offices, tutoring and counseling, animal husbandry and agricultural demonstration plots, educational events and vocational training, and on-site housing for children, families, or short-term visitors.

Logistics and fees

Early bird registration is $35 for entries completed by April 15; $25 of that fee is tax deductible. The entry fee increases to $40 on April 16 and to $45 the week of the race (Monday, May 4, through race day). Additional donations are welcome. Pre-race packet pickup is available at Eastwind Community Church lobby on Sunday, May 3 (about 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM) and at Fleet Feet Treasure Valley in Meridian (3573 E. Longwing Lane, #105) on Friday, May 1 (Noon-6 PM). Day-of packet pickup is scheduled in the Eastwind parking lot (8-9 AM). Day-of parking is available across the street at Eagle Christian Church (4601 S Surprise Way); the Eastwind parking lot will be closed from 8 AM to noon.

The course starts and finishes in the Eastwind Community Church parking lot and runs out-and-back along the Surprise Valley bike path to a turnaround near Highway 21. The course is described as flat and scenic, with course marshals at intersections, mile splits, an aid station near the turnaround, post-race food, and prizes for top finishers.
