Kettlewell Anniversary Fell Race

The Kettlewell Anniversary Fell Race is a fell running event organized by North Leeds Fell Runners. Established in 2009 to mark the 25th anniversary of Abbey Runners, the race covers a distance of 5 miles over hilly terrain. The event is held at Kettlewell, with the race headquarters situated at the Kettlewell Village Hall.

The course follows a single-lap, clockwise route starting at grid reference SD 966723. Participants navigate a mix of tracks and grass surfaces, which may include boggy sections depending on weather conditions. The route features two significant climbs. The first ascent takes runners to the crest of the fell before a descent toward Arncliffe. The path then follows a wood edge and a footpath back towards Kettlewell, leading into a second climb over the fell. The final section descends toward Moor End Farm and finishes along a main farm track.

The event includes a unique prize for the first male and female participants to catch a "rat runner" carrying a rat figurine during the race. Race facilities are limited, as there are no water stations, changing facilities, showers, or baggage storage provided. Public toilets are available nearby at the Kettlewell Car Park. The race has an entry limit of 100 participants and is not suitable for wheelchairs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
