Kerry Way Ultra
The Kerry Way Ultra is a 200 km route that follows the Kerry Way around the Iveragh Peninsula, with registration, start and finish at Killarney Racecourse. The event is limited to 200 competitors and includes a strict registration process with mandatory gear checks and tracker allocation on the evening before the race.
There are two start waves with different course time limits; the Expert wave has a shorter overall time limit and the Intermediate wave a longer one. Expert finishers are ranked by finish time; Intermediate finishers are given their actual time and are ranked after the Expert finishers. Results and live tracking are published via Primal Tracking.
Competitors must hold qualifying results from the previous calendar year: completion of two marathons, or one 50-mile ultra, or one 100 km ultra. No refunds or deferrals are accepted.
Mandatory equipment includes OSI paper maps Nos. 78, 83 and 84, a head torch with spare batteries (minimum 200 lumens), a fully charged mobile phone, a survival bag or blanket, whistle, first aid kit, gloves and hat, water and spare food, and a coloured ribbon to indicate start wave. Trackers must be attached to the rucksack and may be spot-checked along the route.
Drop bags are transported to designated crew stops; some drop bags are non-returnable and others are returned to Killarney. Support crews are allowed only at specified crew stops and personal assistance is forbidden elsewhere. The course passes through Killarney National Park and finishes at Killarney Racecourse.
