Kerry Way Ultra (Killarney Racecourse, Sept 4-5, 2026)
The Kerry Way Ultra is a long distance race that follows approximately 120 miles / 200 km of the Kerry Way around the Iveragh Peninsula. Registration, mandatory gear check and finish are based at Killarney Racecourse. Entry is limited for this event to help protect the route; the main ultra has a maximum field of 200 competitors.
Entrants must hold the required qualification: completion of two marathons, or one 50 mile ultra, or one 100 km ultra in the previous calendar year. No refunds or deferrals are accepted. The event operates two entry waves with different course time limits, and ranking rules differ between those waves for overall podium placings.
Safety gear is mandatory and checked at registration with random spot checks on course. Required items include a full waterproof jacket and trousers, a head torch with spare batteries of at least 200 lumens, Ordnance Survey Ireland paper maps Nos. 78, 83 and 84, a fully charged mobile phone, a survival bag or blanket, a whistle, a basic first aid kit, gloves and a hat, and water and spare food. Trackers are provided and must be attached to the rucksack and kept away from mobile phones and emergency foil blankets.
Competitors are self sufficient on course but support crews are allowed at designated crew stops. Emergency water taps and rubbish and recycling bags are available at many stops. There is an UltraBrunch and prizegiving at the racecourse after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
