Event details
The Kentwood 4th of July 5K takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The event is part of the City of Kentwood's Fourth of July celebration, which also includes a pancake breakfast, parade, carnival, live music, food trucks, and a fireworks display. The race uses chip timing and a digital time clock at the finish. All participants receive a finisher medal. Race shirts are guaranteed for registrations received by June 13; later registrations are not guaranteed a shirt. For safety, baby joggers, roller blades, dogs, and bicycles are not allowed on the course. Water stations will be available along the route.

Location, course and logistics
The start and finish are located in front of Kentwood City Hall and Fire Station #1 on Walma Avenue. The route passes through local neighborhoods, along a paved trail including the East West Trail, and covers a portion of the parade route. The course will officially close at 9:30am for parade preparation; participants not finished by then should use sidewalks. Early packet pickup is available Wednesday, July 2 (12:00pm - 5:00pm) and Thursday, July 3 (8:00am - 3:00pm) at the Kentwood Activities Center, 355 48th St. SE. Onsite packet pickup and registration take place at the start area near 4900 Breton St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. Awards are given to Overall Male and Overall Female finishers; there is no award ceremony. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
