Event

The North Face Kendal Skyline Ultra takes place on 22 November 2025 in Kendal, UK. The race is a 50 km route with approximately 900 m of ascent. The 2025 edition is sold out.

Route and terrain

The course starts in Kendal town centre on closed roads and finishes at the Kendal Mountain Festival Basecamp. The route links local summits and features limestone escarpments, castles, a deer park and river trails. Terrain includes trail, road and fell sections. The entire route is mandatory, fully waymarked and marshalled. A short section from Benson Knott to Park Head Farm is used by special permission and is not public right of way outside race day.

Aid stations and services

There are two staffed aid stations and one additional water point on course:

  • Aid Station 1: Levens Methodist Church (20.9 km)
  • Water Point: Underbarrow Road car park (29 km)
  • Aid Station 2: Kendal Climbing Wall (38.1 km)
Aid stations provide water, isotonic drinks, coke, sandwiches, hot soup, savoury snacks, cakes, fruit and gluten-free and vegan alternatives where requested. There are toilets at registration, the aid stations and the finish. Live GPS tracking and digital timing are used for safety and race timing. Baggage storage is available at registration and must be collected promptly after finishing.

Eligibility, safety and rules

Runners must be 18 or older on race day. Dogs and pacers are not permitted. Retirement is only permitted at an aid station, the water point or at the finish; trackers must be returned on retirement. Medical staff and a Mountain Rescue response team provide safety cover. A mandatory kit checklist is provided and additional exceptional-weather kit may be required. The race is part of the UTMB index as a 50K category event. Prizes are awarded to top finishers and to age-category veterans. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
