Keadeen Mountain Run

The Keadeen mountain running event takes place in County Wicklow and serves as a counting race for both the Leinster League and the South East League. The course is set on mountain terrain where only major junctions are marked, and the use of GPS devices for navigation is not permitted.

Participants can choose between two route options:

  • 10 km with 385 meters of total climb.
  • 4.2 km junior/short course.

The 10 km route begins approximately 400 meters back on the fire road near the Keadeen trailhead. Runners follow the track toward the Keadeen summit cairn, pass the Trig point, and continue along the ridge to Carrig peak. The return leg goes back to the Trig point and follows the downhill track to finish near the trailhead. The short course follows the same initial path but turns at the stile at Slievereagh peak to return to the finish.

Specific safety Requirements are in place for this event. All participants must bring mandatory Level B kit, which includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with emergency numbers, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Kit checks are conducted, and items must be carried during the race as advised on the day. The event has an entry limit of 250 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
