Keadeen, County Wicklow
Keadeen is a mountain trail race on Keadeen in County Wicklow scheduled for Wednesday 10th June 2026. The main route is about 10 km with approximately 385 m of climb. The event is part of both the Leinster League and the Southeast League.
Distances:
- 10 km - main route, about 385 m ascent.
- Short course (c. 4.2 km) - turn at stile at Slievereagh and return to the trailhead.
The route starts near the Keadeen trailhead and begins with about 400 m on a fire road before a narrow section. Runners follow track to Keadeen summit cairn, then along the ridge to Carrig peak and back to the trig. The middle section after Slievereagh can be boggy. The final section follows track downhill to finish near the trailhead. Juniors are permitted; the short course follows the main route until the stile at Slievereagh.
Race marking will indicate only major junctions. GPS devices are not allowed. Parking is off the road from the Keadeen trailhead, with cars directed up and around a fire road loop.
Mandatory kit (Level B) must be carried or available: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag.
