KC Pet Project 5K
The KC Pet Project 5K takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in Swope Park, Kansas City, Missouri. The event is a 5K run/walk that finishes at the KC Pet Project shelter located at 7077 Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64132. This is the event's fifth annual edition.
Entry and event details
The listed entry fee is $35. Registrants receive a race bib and a commemorative race medal. A commemorative t-shirt is available for an additional $10 and is distributed at packet pickup if selected. Participants may register a dog for an extra $15; dogs must be at least four months old, fully vaccinated, and in good health to participate. The event description notes about 800 spots remaining and that the price increases after December 31, 2025.
The race concludes with an after-race festival in the shelter parking lot. The festival includes photo opportunities, a chance to meet foster dogs in the shelter lobby, coffee and pastries from the Roasterie, and sponsor tables. Sponsors who contribute $2,500 or more may have a table or tent at the festival. The event supports KC Pet Project and its care for the roughly 16,000 homeless, abandoned, and injured pets the organization receives each year.
