KC Pet Project 5K
The KC Pet Project 5K takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in Swope Park and finishes at the KC Pet Project shelter at 7077 Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64132. The event is a single 5K run/walk that ends in the shelter front parking lot.
All registrants receive a race bib and a commemorative race medal. Participants may register a dog for an additional fee of $15; registered dogs must be at least four months old, fully vaccinated, and in good health. A commemorative t-shirt is available for an additional $10 and is distributed at packet pickup if selected.
The event includes an After-Race Restival at the shelter with photo opportunities, a chance to meet foster dogs in the lobby, and coffee and pastries from the Roasterie. Sponsors who contribute $2,500 or more are eligible to have a table or tent at the After-Race Restival. The event supports KC Pet Project, which receives about 16,000 homeless, abandoned, and often injured pets each year.
