This is the 18th annual KAT-Walk and the 14th annual Karo-5K for Brain Aneurysm Awareness. It takes place on a Sunday in September, which is Brain Aneurysm Awareness month.
Location and Route
The event starts at Payson Park in Portland, Maine. The route is along ocean-side Back Cove Boulevard.
Event Schedule and Activities
Before the walk and run, there is a registration and activity period. This includes family gatherings, brain aneurysm awareness information, and activities for children, such as face painting. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic. This is followed by an opening ceremony with the presentation of scholarship and research awards. The Karo-5K race begins, followed by the KAT-Walk. The day concludes with a runners awards ceremony and closing ceremonies.
Purpose
The day is intended to remember and honor loved ones lost to or having survived a brain aneurysm. It is also an opportunity to meet and support other families affected by brain aneurysms. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
