KARES 5K: For the Long Run
The KARES 5K: For the Long Run is a nonprofit fundraiser organized by the KARES Foundation. This event marks the fifth edition of the annual race, which focuses on raising awareness and gathering funds for KDM5C, a rare genetic disorder. Participation is available globally through a hybrid format that allows individuals to take part from any location.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km
Participants have the option to complete the 5 km distance through various activities, including running, walking, rolling, hopping, skipping, dancing, or biking. The logistics of the event are flexible, allowing for individual efforts or the organization of team based gatherings in local communities, such as parks.
The registration process is open to the public, and the event spans a three day weekend in September. Because it is a hybrid event with no fixed course, supporters choose their own route and timing within the designated dates. In addition to the physical activity, the foundation accepts donations and sponsorships as part of the fundraising effort for the KDM5C community.
