Event Overview
The 8th Annual CIRT's Pony Express 5K Gallop and 1K Fun Walk/Trot is a community sports event held in East Peoria, Illinois. Organized by Central Illinois Riding Therapy (CIRT), the event serves as a fundraiser to support the organization's mission of providing horseback riding and related activities for individuals with disabilities. The event is supported by the Fondulac Park District and the Fondulac Park District Police.
Course and Distances
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5K Run
- 1K Fun Walk/Trot
The 5K event is timed and scored by ShaZam Racing. The 1K Fun Walk/Trot is an untimed participation event. Specialized registration categories are available for duo participants, allowing a participant with a disability and one assistant to register together.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are presented based on performance in the 5K Run. Overall awards are granted to the top male and female finishers based on gun time. Additionally, age group awards are provided to the top male and female finishers in several categories based on net time:
- 14 and under
- Five-year increments from 15-19 through 55-59
- 60 and over
Location and Logistics
The event takes place at 201 Veterans Drive in East Peoria. Packet pickup is scheduled on the day before the race at the Central Illinois Riding Therapy facility on Neumann Drive, or on the morning of the event at the Fondulac Administration Building.
