The Kansas City Turkey Trot is scheduled for November 26, 2026 at Swope Park near the Kansas City Zoo. The event features a chip-timed 5K and a Kids Dash, with fun-run and kids categories available. Course time limits apply for the 5K; water stations provide water along the route.

Race gear options include a classic t-shirt or an upgrade to a thin-tec soft polyester pullover. Donut King donuts are available at the finish line. Participant gear must be picked up at pre-event pickup or on race morning; mailing of participant gear is subject to a fee. There is no gear check on site. Purchased add-on finisher medals are available for pickup after completing the race.

Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and overall in the chip-timed category. Kids Dash participants receive a finisher award. Age groups include 10 & Under, 11-14, 15-19, and then five-year bands up to 70+.

The event supports the Kansas City Dream Center, an organization that works on ending homelessness, human trafficking, and hunger and that provides holistic care and long-term services. The event is part of a national Thankful Turkey run series and posts results, photos, and national leaderboard standings after the race.

Volunteers receive an event shirt and assist at water stations, participant check-in, and course marshaling. Headphones are allowed but strongly not recommended.
