Kansas City Backyard Ultra
Kansas City Backyard Ultra is a multi-format running event held at Mill Creek Park on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. The start and finish area is located by the J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain. The event includes a Last Runner Standing format and timed events of 12 hours, 9 hours, 6 hours, and 3 hours.
The backyard format uses repeated loops. Each loop consists of four one mile laps on the Mill Creek Park Trail. Runners must complete a full loop within the allowed hour to be eligible to start the next loop and must be present in the start corral when the next hour begins. The event will follow standard Backyard Ultra rules. On course, runners may not receive aid from crew, may not return to race headquarters once a loop has started, and artificial aids are not permitted. Two crew members are allowed per runner. Restrooms are available near the start and a small area near the start and finish is provided for chairs. Water and coffee are provided for runners.
Timed events run concurrently with the Last Runner Standing portion and will use an abundantly stocked aid station every mile loop. Finisher recognition and participant items vary by category. No refunds and no deferrals are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
