Kailua 10-Miler & 5K
The Kailua 10-Miler & 5K starts and finishes at Kailua District Park, located at 21 S. Kainalu Drive in Kailua, Hawaii. The event includes the main 10-Miler race, a 5K race, and stroller divisions for both distances. The 10-Miler is described as "10 Miles in Paradise" and the 5K as "Flat, Fast."
The course for the 10-Miler starts in front of Kailua Intermediate School. It features three aid stations along the route. The organizers note they are returning to the original courses this year, as road work is completed. Public restrooms are available on the 10-mile course at Enchanted Lake Community Park. The course closes at 10:00 a.m., and the finish line closes at approximately the same time. Participants still on the course after this time must move to the side of the roadway and obey traffic laws.
Timing is managed via a chip on the bib number, which must be visible from the front for a finish time to be recorded. Pre-race instructions are given at the start line. After the race, results are posted online in near real-time, and water and refreshments are provided.
Awards are given for the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in each five-year age group. The awards ceremony for the 5K is at approximately 8:00 a.m., and for the 10-Miler at approximately 8:45 a.m.
Parking at Kailua District Park is limited. Additional parking is available at Kailua Library, along side streets, behind Longs, and in two metered public lots: one off Maluniu at the Kailua Business Center and a parking structure off Aulike behind McDonald's.
