Jurassic Express Trail Run
The Jurassic Express Trail Run takes place along the Dorset coast, starting from the Swanage beachfront. The event offers a choice of three different route distances:
- 21.0 km (Half Marathon) - features 473 m of elevation gain
- 16.5 km - features 399 m of elevation gain
- 10.5 km - features 273 m of elevation gain
The course follows a mix of hard-packed chalk paths and sandy trails. Participants run past several coastal landmarks, including Old Harry Rocks, Studland, and the ruins of Corfe Castle. The terrain varies by distance, ranging from gently rolling wide paths on the shorter route to more noticeable climbs and hills on the longer distances.
All participants finish their run at Corfe Castle. After the race, a private vintage steam train operates on the Swanage historic railway to transport runners back to the starting location in Swanage. Train tickets are available for participants and spectators.
The event is chip-timed and includes on-course water stations and refreshments. The routes are marked with pink arrows and tape. Runners are required to bring a mobile phone, a rain jacket, and a reusable cup or bottle, as the event is plastic-free. All finishers receive a metal medal, a goodie bag, a drink, and a personalized certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
