Juneteenth On The East 5K Run / Walk
The Juneteenth On The East 5K Run / Walk is a community event held in Oklahoma City to observe the history of Emancipation in the United States and celebrate the concept of placemaking. The event center is located at 1734 NE 23rd Street. Participants pass through the 23rd Street East community neighborhoods on a course designed to accommodate various movement types and abilities.
The event offers several participation categories:
- 5K Run/Walk: A 3.1 mile route through local neighborhood streets.
- 5K Pushchair: A dedicated division for athletes in pushchairs supported by specific community organizations.
- Juneteenth Virtual: An option for those unable to attend in person to complete the distance independently and submit results.
All participants receive a commemorative race medal. While the virtual option allows for remote completion, physical packets including the finisher medal are distributed at Red Coyote OKC and are not available via mail. Following the physical event, a gathering for fellowship takes place at Kindred Spirits. Registration for this event is free of charge for all divisions.
