Juneteenth Freedom Run/Walk
The Juneteenth Freedom Run/Walk is a multi-day event in Fresno, California, held at Woodward Park during mid-June 2026 (June 13 to June 19, 2026). The event takes place at the Fort Washington and Friant entrance; park parking uses a kiosk with a $5 fee.
The event includes the following distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 5 Mile Run/Walk
- Virtual Run
All participants in the live and virtual events receive a tech shirt and a finisher medal. Live races include placement awards and age group awards. New this year are kids age group awards and cash prizes for breaking the course records. The 5 Mile race is a 20-point event in the Central Valley Runner of the Year series.
Race amenities listed by the organizer include Tailwind hydration along the course, race cheerleading, a pancake breakfast, and high-quality tech shirts. Early packet pickup is available at local locations including a restaurant and an REI store, and bib pickup is also offered at Woodward Park on race day.
The event commemorates Juneteenth, noting that the day marks when 250,000 enslaved people in Texas were declared free. Proceeds from the run support scholarships for college-bound youth. Free training sessions meet weekly at Cottonwood Park in Clovis and at Woodward Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
