Juneteenth 5K - Family Rooted in Tradition
The Cen Tex Juneteenth Family Rooted in Tradition 5K is the sixth annual Juneteenth Freedom Run organized by the Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce in Killeen, Texas. The event is a chip timed 5 kilometer running race held at 205 E Ave D, Killeen, TX 76541 and is part of the Cen Tex Race Series.
Proceeds support the Juneteenth Relief Grant, a program that provides financial assistance to Black owned businesses across Central Texas. Grant applications are submitted by local business owners and reviewed by a community selection committee that selects recipients from the applicant pool.
Registration carries a fee of $40. The first 200 registered participants receive an official 2026 Cen Tex Juneteenth T shirt. All registrants receive a swag bag and a finisher's towel. Early packet pickup is available on June 18 at IBCC Headquarters, 205 E Avenue D, and race day registration and packet pickup will be available at the race site.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in standard age groups, with no duplicate awards. Age groups include 0-11, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 plus.
The race is followed by a Juneteenth Festival featuring local vendors, food trucks, family activities and games, live performances, community celebrations, and the presentation of the Juneteenth Relief Grants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
