Jump off Joe Marathon
The event offers three distances held on gravel roads on and around Jump off Joe Mountain near Kennewick, WA. The routes climb to the summit for views over the Tri-Cities and down into Oregon. All distances share a common start and finish near the intersection of Owens Road and Highway 397; the course is marked with signage, flagging tape, and flour arrows but is not a certified course so measured distance and elevation may vary slightly.
Distances
- 26.2 miles (marathon)
- 13.1 miles (half marathon)
- 10 km
The course has features more like a trail run than a typical road race: rough gravel surfaces, variable elevation, and aid stations spaced roughly 3 to 5 miles apart. Aid station service levels vary by location: some are limited service with water, gels, electrolytes, and ice, while others offer fuller service including sandwiches, chips, fruit, pop, and additional items. The event is cupless; participants are expected to carry their own bottles, bladders, or reusable cups to refill at jugs available at aid stations.
Logistics notes: parking is along the side of Owens Road near the start/finish and parking on Highway 397 is prohibited. There are no restrooms on course beyond the start area porta-potty; participants should plan accordingly and pack out any used toilet paper or wipes. The course is not closed to traffic, runners must watch for vehicles, and participants should stay on the roads and on permitted property. Appropriate footwear is recommended for rough gravel surfaces. Check-in and day-of registration occur before the race. Entry fees include a finisher award, entry in a random prize drawing, and on-course and finish-line food. A cash award is offered for any broken course record. No alcohol is allowed during the event.
