Event Overview
Johnnys' Run is a community athletic event held in Ada, Michigan, that serves as the kickoff for the St. Patrick Parnell Festival. The event benefits student scholarships for the St. Patrick school and parish. The competition features multiple race formats designed to accommodate a variety of participants, including specialized distance challenges and team-based categories.
The primary race options include:
- Johnny's Run 5k: A 3.1-mile out-and-back paved course through rural farmland featuring gently rolling hills and tree-lined roads.
- Johnny's Impossible Mile: A one-mile challenge where participants aged 18 and older carry an additional 10% of their body weight in pet food within a backpack.
- Combo Run: A registration option that includes both the 5k and the Impossible Mile.
- Kids Race: Multiple short-distance events including a 20-yard diaper dash, a 50-yard run, and a 200-yard harrier race.
- The Mutt Strutt: A timed canine division that begins after the main 5k field.
Competition and Awards
The event includes several team challenges, such as the Family Team Challenge, High School Team Challenge, and an Open Team Challenge, which use cross-country style scoring based on age group finishes. The top male and female finishers in the 5k and Impossible Mile receive custom race steins. The first 400 registered participants across both main races are provided with custom finisher medals, and the first 300 entrants receive commemorative t-shirts.
After the races, participants can access the St. Patrick Parnell Festival. This celebration includes food trucks, various beverages, and live music. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
