Event Overview
The Johnnie Lay Burks Elementary Ribbit Run takes place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Johnnie Lay Burks Elementary School on 757 N. Chase Street in Athens, GA. It features multiple run distances.
Race Events
The event includes four different events.
- Ribbit Run 5K: Registration costs $25. The registration price increases after February 13, 2026.
- Tree Frog Trot 1K: A free 1-kilometer run.
- Tiny Tree Frog Trot: A free run for the youngest participants, covering a distance of 0.1 miles.
- Phantom Runner: A non-participation option costing $20, with registration ending March 4, 2026.
Event Day Information
The 5K course starts and finishes at the school, with a map available online. The 1K event covers a portion of the 5K course, and the Tiny Tree Frog Trot takes place on a loop in front of the school. An awards ceremony for the 5K is scheduled. All finishers in the 1K and Tiny Tree Frog Trot receive participation awards.
On-site activities include complimentary hot chocolate, food and coffee available for purchase, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and access to the playground.
Registration and Logistics
Registration for a t-shirt is guaranteed for entries received by February 10, 2026; shirts are not available for registrations after February 10, 2025. Early packet pickup is offered on Thursday, March 5, at the elementary school and Friday, March 6, at Fleet Feet Athens. Race day packet pickup and registration are available. Proceeds from the event benefit the Ribbit Run, the after-school Tree Frog Run Club, and the Burks Elementary PTO for teacher and school-wide projects.
