John Wayne Grit Series - Lone Pine
The John Wayne Grit Series Lone Pine event is an in-person race on October 17, 2026, that benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. The course goes through the Alabama Hills National Scenic Area and includes dirt roads, single track trails, hills and views of Mt. Whitney. Loop courses start and finish alongside Movie Road and are chip timed for those who want to race.

The venue elevation is about 3,700 feet. The event is cup less; volunteers will refill participants' hydration packs or handheld bottles at aid stations. There are three aid stations on the half marathon course and two on the 10K. Each finisher receives a finisher mug and a finisher shirt, and participants who sign up receive one free admission to the Museum of Western Film History with their bib.
There is a race component with podium prizes for the top three female and top three male finishers in each course. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at the Museum of Western Film History in Lone Pine. Early bird pricing and fundraising dates apply, and registration closes on October 14, 2026.
