John Wayne Grit Series - Lone Pine
The John Wayne Grit Series Lone Pine run takes place on October 17, 2026 in the Alabama Hills National Scenic Area and benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. The course includes dirt roads, single track trails and hills, with views of Mt. Whitney.
Distances offered include:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
Both distances use loop courses that start and finish alongside Movie Road and are chip timed for those who wish to race. The event elevation is about 3,700 feet. Aid stations are provided on course with three stations for the half marathon and two for the 10K. The event is cup less; participants should bring a handheld water bottle or hydration pack. Filled water bottles will be available for finishers at the finish line.
Every participant receives a John Wayne Grit Series participant shirt; finishers receive a finisher mug and a finisher shirt at the finish line. There is a race component with podium prizes for the top three female and top three male finishers on each course. Packet pickup is scheduled Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Museum of Western Film History in Lone Pine and again on event day at the start area. Packet pickup includes one museum admission with a bib. Free parking is available at the museum with shuttle service to the start line; there is no parking at the start line.
