Course Details

The course is an 8-mile uphill run on the historic Cerro Gordo Road, which was built in 1865. The route climbs 4,600 vertical feet to the historic ghost town of Cerro Gordo, a former silver mine. Aid stations are positioned every mile.

Post-Race Activities

Upon finishing at the ghost town, participants have access to a mountaintop BBQ, live music, games, and self-guided exploration of the abandoned town. Shuttle vans transport runners back down the mountain after the race.

Registration & Participation

There is no time limit for the event. Past participants have included a range of ages, from teenagers to an 81-year-old finisher. The event includes a limited-edition 2026 shirt and a finisher's medal. The winner's name is engraved in silver and added to Cerro Gordo's historical records.

Accommodation and Logistics

Camping spots are available in Keeler for a fee, less than a quarter mile from the start. The town of Lone Pine, with various lodging options, is 15 miles away.
