Cerro Gordo Silver Run : event details
The Cerro Gordo Silver Run takes place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Cerro Gordo Mines in Keeler, CA 93530. The course is an uphill route of 8 miles that gains 4,600 vertical feet, finishing at the historic ghost town of Cerro Gordo, which was once a major silver mine. The Cerro Gordo Road was carved in 1865 to move silver down from the mountains. The event has no time limit.
Logistics and on-course services
Aid stations are located approximately every mile and are stocked with fuel and support. The finish area includes a mountaintop barbecue, live music and games, and self-guided access to the abandoned town. Included for participants are a limited-edition Silver Run 2026 shirt, a finishers medal, and shuttle vans to return runners downhill; the winner’s name is engraved in silver. Multiple parking lots will be available in Keeler with volunteers to direct vehicles, and shuttle buses will bring participants back to those lots after the race.
Camping and lodging options listed by the organizer include nearby campground spots in Keeler (less than 1/4 mile from the start, $20 per spot, restroom access), lodging in Lone Pine about 15 miles away, and BLM land camping available free for up to 14 days.
