Wild Wild West Marathon & Ultra
Wild Wild West Marathon & Ultra takes place Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Lone Pine, California. The event is described as the third oldest trail marathon in the United States and has been hosted by the Lone Pine Chamber of Commerce for 46 years.
The course runs through the Alabama Hills and the foothills of Mt. Whitney. There are ten water stops or aid stations located along the course. Distances offered include:
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- 10 Miler
The event operates under permit on the Inyo National Forest. Local volunteers, chamber staff, and board members support the race under the leadership of the race director. A 2026 race manual was updated on April 21 and provides course and race details. Final routes are subject to approval by government agencies and may change.
Registration information notes that registration closes on Thu, Apr 30 at 11:59 PM PT. The event policy states no refunds will be given under any circumstances; entrants who withdraw at least 30 days before the race may receive a 50 percent credit toward next year’s registration fee. If the event is canceled due to pandemic, extreme weather, community disaster, or other force majeure, neither refunds nor credits will be given.
