Event
The John Muir Way Ultra is a 50 km trail race held on 7 March 2026. The event also offers a team relay format of 2 x 25 km. Entry fees vary by early-bird tier: the solo 50 km has tiered prices (£53, £58, £63) and the relay has early prices (£83, £95). A service fee of 4% applies to each entry. The event status is listed as open and the closing date for entries is 1 March 2026.
Route and logistics
The course begins at Port Seton Promenade and follows the John Muir Way through East Lothian towns and coastal sections, including Aberlady, Gullane and North Berwick, finishing at Foxlake Adventures in Dunbar. Race registration and parking are at Foxlake Adventures; cars may be left there for the duration of the event. Transport from the finish area to the race start is included in the entry fee. The organiser lists cut points at RNLI North Berwick (halfway), Balgone and Smeaton.
In case of extreme weather the race may be cancelled or rescheduled; entries transfer to a rescheduled date when possible. If a rescheduled date is not possible, a 75% refund is available if the competitor notifies the organiser within one month. Transfer and refund rules apply before the event with graduated fees and no refunds within 14 days. Volunteer marshals receive a race memento and a donation towards their club; duties include checkpoints, registration and aid stations.
