Joggin' for the Noggin
Joggin' for the Noggin is an annual fundraiser held in Atchison that benefits the Mary Lea Johanning Scholarship. The event includes in-person and virtual running options and supports scholarships for Atchison High School graduating senior women who will attend a Kansas university or college. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic standing, extracurricular involvement, and the qualities Mary Lea represented.
The 2026 event marks the 16th annual race. Fundraising from recent years has helped provide over $45,000 to support 18 scholarship recipients. The in-person start and finish are located in front of the Riverhouse Restaurant at 101 Commercial Street. Pancake feed and children's activities take place adjacent to the race area at the Atchison River Walk and Veterans Memorial Park.

Registration opens July 1. Online registration closes September 23 except the virtual 5K registration window extends to September 27. Registering before September 11 is noted as the deadline to guarantee t-shirt size. Entry fees listed by category include $15 for adult in-person entries, $8 for child entries, and $15 for the virtual 5K.
Awards are given by age divisions. Medals go to the top two male and female finishers in each specified division for the 5K and 2K, and plaques are awarded to the top two overall 5K finishers male and female. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
