Health to Better Living 5K and Fun Run
The Health to Better Living 5K and Fun Run is an annual athletic event held in Effingham, Kansas. The 2026 edition marks the third year of this gathering, which serves to support youth development programs. Specifically, proceeds from the event assist 4H members in Atchison County with the costs associated with attending 4H camp at Rock Springs, where participants engage in life skills training.
The event features two distinct distances:
- 3.1 miles (5K)
- 1 mile (Fun Run)
Both the start and finish lines are situated at the intersection of William and 4th Street. For the first time, this year's races will utilize new large digital timers to display participants' elapsed times.
Entry to the race requires a registration fee. Participants who complete their registration by July 15th receive an event shirt. Race materials, including bib numbers and shirts, are available for collection prior to the event at Effingham Park, located across from the livestock barns. Cash prizes are awarded to the first and second-place finishers in both the 3.1 mile race and the 1 mile Fun Run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
