Event Overview
The JMF Trails Hillbilly Half is a trail race scheduled for November 21, 2026, held within the Jefferson Memorial Forest in Louisville, Kentucky. The course is designed to utilize the natural terrain of the forest, featuring significant elevation changes and technical trail sections.
Course Details
The race follows an out-and-back format that begins and ends in the Horine area. The route includes several specific landmarks and trails:
- 1/2 Marathon: A 13.1 mile course starting at the Horine parking lot and passing the lake.
Participants descend the Yost Ridge Trail toward the Welcome Center before transitioning onto the Siltstone Trail. The path continues across Jefferson Road and Bearcamp Road. Runners reach a turnaround point located at the top of a long climb on the Siltstone Trail ridge before returning to the start via the same route. The course includes a mix of steep descents and long climbs. Finishing times on this terrain are often notably longer than standard road races.
Support and Logistics
Aid stations are positioned at miles 2, 5, 8, and 11. These stations provide water, sports drinks, soda, and various food items such as cookies, pretzels, chips, and peanuts. Gels are not provided at the stations. Runners are encouraged to carry their own water bottles or reusable cups. Registration for the event is managed via UltraSignup, and while refunds are not offered, registration deferrals to the following year are permitted.
