About the race
JFK Runway 5K Run/Walk takes place on October 25, 2026 at JFK International Airport, with event operations centered at Building 14 in Jamaica, NY. The event is a 5K run/walk held on a runway that will be closed to aircraft for the duration of the event; aircraft are routed to other runways while the course is in use. In adverse weather there is a possibility the route could be moved to adjacent airside taxiways.
The course is a flat out-and-back runway route. Organizers provide shuttle service from the Federal Circle AirTrain Station to Building 14 and there will be security screening at the venue. Certain items are prohibited on the runway, including fanny packs and regular cameras; smartphones are permitted. Secure storage for personal possessions will be available and strollers are not allowed on the course.
Bibs will be shipped to the address provided during registration and participants must bring their bib or show proof of registration at the venue. Race numbers can be personalized if registration is completed three weeks in advance. Registration fees include processing charges and are non-refundable.
Post-race amenities include pre-packaged refreshments. Awards consist of trophies for top overall male and female and medals for the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups including 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, and continuing in five-year increments through 80 plus.
