JFK Runway 5K Run/Walk
The event is scheduled for October 25, 2026 at JFK International Airport. The course is a flat out and back run on a runway that is closed to aircraft for the duration of the event. In adverse weather there is a chance the course could be moved to adjacent airside taxiways.
Registration prices vary by date and include processing fees; example totals listed are $38.98 early, $49.33 race day for the 5K. Students 18 and under have reduced pricing and must present valid ID on race day. A base registration option includes a printed name on the bib if entered three weeks before the event. There is also a donation only raffle option.
Logistics include shuttle buses between Federal Circle and Building 14 and security screening for participants. Fanny packs and regular cameras are not permitted on the runway. Smartphones are allowed and a secure area will be available to store possessions. Strollers are not permitted on the course.
Awards are presented with trophies for top overall male and female and medals for the top three in multiple age groups starting at 14 and under and continuing by five year ranges. Post race refreshments are pre packaged. The event serves as a major fundraiser for the JFK Rotary Club and traces its origins to a race first run in April 1972.
