JFK Runway 5K Run/Walk
The JFK Runway 5K Run/Walk is a 5K road race held at JFK International Airport on October 25, 2026. The event is run as a fundraiser for the JFK Rotary Club and traces its history to races first held in April 1972; the event format changed from a 10K to a 5K in 2002.
The course uses an active airport runway that is closed to aircraft for the event and operated as a closed out-and-back route on a flat surface. In adverse weather there is a possibility the race route could be moved from the runway to adjacent airside taxiways. Security procedures are part of race planning and the organizers work with airport authorities to follow established security programs.
Participant services include pre-packaged post-race refreshments, bib shipping to the address provided at registration, on-site bib lookup, and shuttle bus service from the Federal Circle AirTrain Station to Building 14. There will be a security check; fanny packs and regular cameras are not allowed on the runway, smartphones are permitted, and secure storage for possessions will be available. Strollers are not allowed on the race course.
Awards are presented by gender and age group, including trophies for the top overall male and female and medals for the top three in multiple age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
