Cheryl Diamond Jersey Shore 5K Cancer Schlep
The Cheryl Diamond Jersey Shore 5K Cancer Schlep is a community 5K run/walk held at Joe Palaia Park in Ocean Township, New Jersey. The event brings together hundreds of participants, with ages reported from about 5 to 90 years old, to raise awareness and support for breast, ovarian and prostate cancer research and care.
Proceeds and awareness efforts support global research on breast and ovarian cancers and BRCA mutation carriers, and partially benefit the BRCA Multidisciplinary Clinic at Rabin Medical Center's Davidoff Cancer Center. The event specifically highlights BRCA genetic screening, multidisciplinary care, and research studies related to these cancers.
Event details from a recent edition include a no bag check policy and a bib pickup process that begins at 7:30 am on race day; participants must know their bib number or use a self-lookup area. Live online, email, and text results are provided, along with same-day finish line photos and free video. Awards are given to the top male and female overall and to the top male and female in the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
