The Jersey Shore 5K Cancer Schlep is a community 5 kilometer run and walk held in Ocean Township, New Jersey, at Joe Palaia Park. The event has drawn several hundred participants across a wide age range, and a second annual edition took place on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Registration for future editions is not yet open and will open in advance of the event date.
The Schlep raises awareness and funds for research and clinical care related to breast, ovarian and prostate cancer. Proceeds support global research into BRCA mutation carriers and the BRCA Multidisciplinary Clinic at Rabin Medical Center’s Davidoff Cancer Center. The event also promotes awareness of BRCA genetic screening for breast and ovarian cancer.
Logistics noted by organizers include on-site bib pickup before the event with a self-lookup option for bib numbers, and no bag check available. Results and media are provided digitally, including live online results, email and text updates, free video and same-day finish line photos. Awards are given to overall top male and female finishers and to top male and female finishers in age groups such as 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus.
