Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series

The Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series is an established running event consisting of three different races held in Methley, Leeds. The competition has been held for nearly 20 years and is organized by the Rothwell Harriers running club. The primary goal of the series is to raise funds for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

The course follows a flat, one-lap route along the canal towpath on the Aire and Calder Navigation. Each of the main races covers a specific distance, and the final event in the series includes an additional short-distance run for younger participants or schools.

The event headquarters are located at the Commercial Pub in Methley, which provides toilet and changing facilities for participants. The race start is situated a five-minute walk from the headquarters. While baggage storage is available, there are no showers, water stations on the course, or distance markers provided.

Participants who enter the full three-race series receive a designed T-shirt. Mementos are provided after each individual race, and medals are awarded to all finishers of the final race in July. The concluding event of the series also features a barbecue, raffle, and cake competition. Monetary prizes are available for course records, individual age categories, and the club with the highest number of participants.

The event is not suitable for wheelchairs. Parking is available within the village of Methley, and organizers request that participants park responsibly within the local community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
