James Blakely / Harden Moss Fell Race

The James Blakely / Harden Moss Fell Race is a short fell and trail event held at the Harden Moss Sheepdog Trials, Greenfield Road, Holmfirth, HD9 3XF. The course is approximately 5 km (3.1 miles) with about 180 m (590 ft) of ascent and is described as well marked.

The event is organised as an open race by Holmfirth Harriers and carries an age restriction of over 14s only. Entry to the race is free; however, admission to the sheepdog trials field is payable for those spectating. Prizes are awarded in most categories.

The race was first run in 1937. A licensed bar is available at the event. Organisers note that help with entries and marshalling is welcomed on the day.

Results from previous editions are recorded for multiple years including 2025, 2023, 2022, 2017 and 2015. The terrain combines fell paths and trails and is intended for participants prepared for off road running and elevation gain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
