Javelina Jundred
The Javelina Jundred is a multi-distance trail run event held over Halloween weekend. It is described as a costumed trail run party. The event takes place at McDowell Mountain Regional Park, north of Fountain Hills, Arizona. The start/finish area is the Four Peaks Staging Area, also called Javelina Jeadquarters.
The event offers three race distances:
- 100 Mile
- 100K
- 31K (Jackass Night Trail)
All courses are run on rolling single-track trails, primarily using the Pemberton Trail within the park. The 100-mile course is a Western States 100 qualifier and a Golden Ticket race, offering automatic entry for top finishers. The 100-mile event has a 30-hour time limit.
For the 31K Jackass Night Trail, runners complete a single loop of the course at night. Costumes and glow accessories are encouraged. The race has an 8.5-hour time limit.
The course features four aid stations per loop: Javelina Jeadquarters, Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch. Aid stations provide a wide variety of food and drinks, including water, electrolyte drinks, gels, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and prepared meals like burritos and grilled cheese. Vegan-friendly options are noted.
Crew access is only allowed at the Javelina Jeadquarters start/finish area. Pacers are permitted for the 100-mile and 100K distances under specific rules, starting after a certain number of loops or at sunset. The event is a cupless race, so runners must bring their own container for fluids.
Entry fees vary by distance. The event includes camping options, a race expo, and an awards ceremony. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
