Jackass Night Trail
Jackass Night Trail is a night version of the Javelina Jundred course held in McDowell Mountain Regional Park. The event follows one loop of the Javelina course, a roughly 19 to 22 mile single-loop route used by the main event, and is offered as a 31 km race that visits four on-course aid stations: Javelina Jeadquarters (start/finish), Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch.
The course mixes desert singletrack, sandy washes, and rolling terrain with short elevation changes. Aid stations are stocked with water, ice, electrolyte drink, gels, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and several prepared food options. The longest aid stretches are roughly 6.5 miles between Coyote Camp and Jackass Junction.
Crewing is permitted only at Javelina Jeadquarters. Pacers are not allowed for the 31 km night race. The night format emphasizes costumes and visibility items; recommended gear includes a headlamp, spare batteries, and visible or glow accessories. The race notes that Jackass Junction is a lively aid station located about 10 miles from the finish, and runners should plan their time and gear accordingly.
The event follows the same course marking and cupless aid station policy used by Javelina Jundred. Runners are expected to follow race rules, respect the park environment, and use the provided facilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
