Jackass Night Trail : Javelina Jundred Night Race
The Jackass Night Trail is a nighttime single-loop option on the Javelina Jundred course that follows the park trails and aid stations used for the larger event. The format covers the Javelina loop as a single 31K loop, listed in event materials as 19 miles, and is designed to let runners experience the evening aid station atmosphere at Jackass Junction.
The course uses the same trail system as the main event in McDowell Mountain Regional Park and includes four on-course aid stations: Javelina Jeadquarters, Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch. The longest aid stretches are roughly 6.5 to 6.6 miles; runners are advised to plan for those distances and carry adequate liquids. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, gels, snacks, fruit, and several warm food options.
This night event encourages costumes and glow gear and recommends carrying a headlamp, spare batteries, and layered clothing for temperature changes. Crewing is allowed only at Javelina Jeadquarters and no pacers are permitted for the 31K. The race is cupless; runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle for aid station fills. The Jackass Junction aid station is a lively, remote stop about ten miles from the finish so runners should be prepared for the return segment after the party atmosphere.
