Event overview
Javelina Jundred is a multi-distance trail event at McDowell Mountain Regional Park (Four Peaks Staging Area, “Javelina Jeadquarters”) near Fountain Hills, Arizona. Distances offered are 100 Mile, 100K (≈62 miles), and 31K (≈19 miles). Entry limits are listed as 950 for the 100 Mile, 450 for the 100K, and 250 for the 31K. Time limits are 30 hours for the 100 Mile, 29 hours for the 100K, and 8.5 hours for the 31K. The 100 Mile edition is a Western States 100 qualifier and a Golden Ticket race; automatic Golden Ticket bids are awarded to the top two male and top two female finishers (with the bid sliding down as needed). The event is known for a costumed night component and a party atmosphere at aid stations, and it is rated R in its on-site programming.
Course, aid stations and logistics
The 100 Mile course combines one 22.3-mile loop and four 19.45-mile loops; the 100K uses one 22.3-mile loop plus three 19.45-mile loops; the 31K is a single loop. Each loop includes four on-course aid stations: Javelina Jeadquarters, Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch. Longest aid gaps noted are about 6.5 and 6.6 miles; the organizer recommends carrying at least two water containers for those stretches. The course is marked with orange ribbon (black polka dots), blue-and-white ribbon at non-race junctions, and yellow logo signs; reflective markers are added for night sections. Crewing is permitted only at Javelina Jeadquarters; pacers must be human, on foot, one at a time, and follow the event’s pacer rules. Two drop-bag locations are available (Jeadquarters and Jackass Junction) and drop bags must be labeled. The event is cupless - runners must carry their own reusable cup or bottle. Medical support is available at Jeadquarters, Jackass Junction, and on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
