J. Barry Dwyer Red Devil Turkey Trot, Chelsea

The event takes place at Chelsea High School with the start and finish on the track at Chelsea Memorial Stadium, located at 299 Everett Avenue, Chelsea MA. The main race is a USATF certified 5K course with chip timing provided by Mercury Timing. The route is mostly flat with a mild hill on the out and back. The course begins on the track, proceeds south on Everett Avenue, and follows a loop using Carter Street, Beech Street, Spruce Street, Washington Street, Cary Avenue, Broadway, Webster Avenue, and Clarke Avenue before returning to the track.

Proceeds support the J. Barry Dwyer Memorial Scholarship, awarded annually to a Chelsea High School cross country, track, or field athlete who exemplifies excellence in sport, character, and leadership. Funds also help the Chelsea High School track, field, and cross country programs.

The event was permanently renamed in honor of J. Barry Dwyer, who led the boys cross country program to multiple Commonwealth Athletic Conference championships and remained active with local high school track and cross country after retirement.
