Ivybridge 3 tops – Dartmoor Fell series
This event is a revived local fell race organised by Erme Valley Harriers and run in a Wednesday evening format. Race headquarters and registration are at Ivybridge rugby club, PL21 0LR. Parking is at a park and ride with a short walk to Race HQ, followed by a warm-up walk of about 1 km to the start on the edge of the moor at Gr 654569. Junior races start and finish at that location; senior races start there and finish back at the rugby club.
The senior course is approximately 10 km long with about 450 m of climb and offers views over the South Hams. The finish includes a short section of tarmac. The route begins with a brisk ascent of Western Beacon, then crosses open moor to loop down and climb to Weatherdon. Runners follow some quick track, scramble over tussocks to Glasscombe Ball, descend to a stream crossing at Scada Brook, climb to Ugborough Beacon, cross Lud Brook, then return across to Western for a fast descent to the finish. There are clear tracks and trods in places, but some off‑track sections require sound route finding. The route has been confirmed with the main landowners and Dartmoor National Park Authority.
