Island 25/15
The Island 25/15 is a bike race event scheduled for June 6, 2026. It takes place on Howland Island, which is part of the Northern Montezuma Wildlife Management Area. There are two main distance categories: Island 25 and Island 15. For each distance, there are several event divisions:
- Island 25 Open (ages 11-44)
- Island 15 Open (ages 11-44)
- Island 25 Masters (ages 45+)
- Island 15 Masters (ages 45+)
- Island 25 Fat Bike
- Island 15 Fat Bike
All events start at the Savannah Fire Department on the corner of Route 89 and Savannah Spring Lake Road. The course begins on paved roads for the first few miles before moving onto the gravel and dirt roads of Howland Island. Riders travel on double track trails that pass between multiple ponds. The terrain includes hill climbs. Participants in the Island 25 distance will encounter one particular short, steep hill twice.
A helmet is mandatory for all participants; anyone without a helmet will not be allowed to start and will not receive a refund. The total number of participants for the event is capped at 250. Registration includes a custom t-shirt. A post-race party and awards ceremony are held. The event supports the Savannah Volunteer Fire Department.
