Event overview

The iRun WNY New Year's Classic includes two 5K races held at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown, New York: a New Year's Eve 5K (December 31, 2025) and a New Year's Day 5K (January 1, 2026). Both races start and finish near the historic lighthouse at Old Fort Niagara. The New Year's Eve course is run clockwise and the New Year's Day course is run counter-clockwise. The event is planned to use USATF Course #NY11071JG. The first 125 participants will receive a custom finisher medal, and there is a new custom finisher medal for 2026.

Logistics, timing and awards

There is one water stop on the course that runners pass twice, and bottled water is provided at the finish. Packet pickup takes place inside a large heated tent from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm. Post-race activities including the awards ceremony, music and light snacks are held inside the heated tent across from the Officer's Club. Free parking is available in the main lot near the pool/beach, a short 3-4 minute walk to the start/finish; parking at the start/finish line is also allowed that day. Chip timing uses Jaguar Electronic RFID provided by Race Management Solutions, with real-time results and downloadable custom finisher certificates. Awards include custom trophies for overall male and female winners and age-group award decals for medals. Registration fees and combo pricing change after 12/15/25. No refunds; organizers may postpone, reschedule or offer a virtual option for safety or emergency reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
