iRun for Kids
iRun for Kids is a fundraiser for the Albany Public Schools Foundation held at the West Albany High School Track on March 13, 2027. The event raises funds to support APSF programs and activities, including classroom and enrichment grants, scholarships, and student assistance.
Race options include:
- 5K run or walk
- 10 Mile race
- Little Leprechaun Dash, two laps of the track (about 800 m) for Kindergarten through 2nd grade
All runners who complete the 5K and the 10 Mile receive a finisher medal. First-place winners in each age category for both distances receive an apple pie. Kids older than 2nd grade may participate in the 5K but must be accompanied by an adult; all participants under age 18 in the 5K and 10 Mile must have a parent or guardian sign a release.
Early bird registration opens December 1. Registrations made by February 23 are guaranteed a T-shirt; packet pickup the day before the event is when bibs, T-shirts, and goodie bags are distributed. Day-of registration is allowed but T-shirts and goodie bags are not guaranteed.
The event is held rain or shine. All registered runners receive a swag bag and sponsor booths will offer giveaways. Mascots from the school district and the region are scheduled to attend. A Sponsor a Student option lets donors cover a low-income student’s entry for $20, and multiple sponsorship levels are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
