Interlaken Ice Cream Dash
The Interlaken Ice Cream Dash is a summer weeknight trail run in Interlaken Park, Seattle, presented as part of the Tuesday Night Trail to Grill series. Distances offered at the event are:
- 5k - two 2.5 km loops
- 10k - four 2.5 km loops
The course begins with an out-and-back on the paved Interlaken Boulevard, which is closed to motorized traffic through the park, then climbs via a short staircase onto dirt trails. The route includes a sustained climb to the top of the park and a downhill return to the boulevard before the short finish. Each loop is 2.5 km so runners complete multiple laps depending on their distance.
An aid station is located at the start/finish and supplies water, Skratch Labs electrolyte drink, and a selection of carbohydrate and salty foods such as cookies, energy bar pieces, gels, chews, chips, bagels, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and bananas. 5k runners pass the aid station at 2.5 km; 10k runners pass at 2.5 km, 5 km, and 7.5 km.
Street parking is available adjacent to check-in and the start/finish. Trails remain open to other park users during the event, including pedestrians with pets and cyclists. Dogs are not allowed to accompany runners on the course. Participants are responsible for their own safety and are encouraged to carry a cell phone. Headphones are permitted but should be used with earbuds at a low volume and passing runners should announce their intent to pass. Post-race offerings include hot dogs, veggie dogs, watermelon, other snacks, awards for top three Female and Open finishers in each distance, a raffle, and ice cream. Apparel is available at the event with set prices for short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, and hoodies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
