Intergalactic
Intergalactic is a trail event organised by Long Player Running at Hurn Forest, hosted from the cricket club start/finish area. The event uses a Beastie Boys and space theme: participants receive a themed metal medal, a themed playlist is provided, and space inspired snacks are available at the Run DMC aid station.
The route follows the main forest track as an out and back course and allows participants to choose their own distance. Laps are measured and repeatable so runners can complete multiple circuits.
- Distances available from 5K up to ultra marathon
- Lap length is 5.3 km / 3.28 miles out and back
Trail shoes are recommended but not essential because the track is hardstanding and well maintained; road shoes are acceptable for many runners. An aid and drinks station operates at the start/finish of each lap with savoury and sweet items, and an area is provided to leave personal items. No disposable cups will be provided. Toilets are available at the cricket club and number pick-up is on the day at race registration.
The event can be entered as part of The Imperial March series, which includes Space Oddity and Intergalactic, with a discount for the combined entry. Twenty percent of entry costs are donated to Forestry England. The event is licensed by the TRA and run under UKA rules; distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under.
