The event offers the following distance:
- 1 Mile (Open to ages 1 and older)
The race follows a fast course layout and includes a dedicated school participation competition. Local schools compete for cash prizes based on the number of participants they register, with awards ranging from $100 to $300 for the top five schools. Any school that reaches a minimum of 25 participants but does not place in the top five also receives a financial contribution for their physical education programs.
Managed by the Live Red Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the proceeds from this event are used to fund free fitness programs in the lowest-opportunity neighborhoods of Richmond. These programs focus on teaching core life skills to youth through fitness and mentorship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
