About the race
The Indian Head Turkey Trot offers chip-timed road races on the Indian Head Rail Trail in White Plains, Maryland. The course is a flat, paved out-and-back route; the 10 km is run as two laps. The route goes along creeks and through woods.

Runners receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (Drifit) event shirt. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before November 4; extra shirts may be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before the event to check in. Race day registration is offered, but shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for race-day registrants. Registration fees listed in advance include a 5k price tier and a 10k price tier, and each distance increases by $5 on race morning.
There are three water stations on the 10k course at about miles 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65, and one water station on the 5k at about mile 1.55; Gatorade is available at some stations. Port-a-johns are located near check-in.
The event awards the top three men and women overall and awards first and second place male and female in standard age groups (19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). Live results are posted through Athlinks and final results with series points are posted after the event. A virtual race option is available.
This event awards points toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series and toward the Fall Series. The race benefits Lovepaws, an organization focused on keeping pets in homes through community outreach in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, Maryland.
