Independence Day Festival - Hazleton
The Independence Day Festival takes place July 3 to July 5, 2026, with the start and finish at Louis Schiavo City View Park in Hazleton, PA. The course is an out and back route that connects the Aurther Gardner Hwy to the Hazleton Rails to Trails.
Event distances include:
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 Miles)
- 10K Run
- 1 Mile Family Walk
- 1 Mile Youth Race
- Virtual options for 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile
Registration opens March 6, 2026. Registration for the 5K, 10K, and virtual options closes April 30, 2026; registration for the 1 Mile Family Walk and 1 Mile Youth Race closes July 2, 2026. Stated entry fees are $30 for most races and virtual entries, $25 for the family walk, and $15 for the youth race.
The 1 Mile Youth Race is run as a two loop course entirely within the park and is open to runners 16 and younger. Overall awards and age group scoring use different timing methods: gun time is used for overall awards while chip time is used for age group awards. Awards include top overall male and female in the 5K and 10K and first place male and female in the age groups 19&U, 20-39, 40-59, and 60+.
Virtual participants may complete their distance between July 3 and July 5 and submit times electronically for a special division. One hundred percent of proceeds will be donated to support the local autism community, youth sports, cancer research, and disabled veterans.
