Heartland Bank and Trust Independence Day 5K - Jacksonville
The event takes place at Nichols Park in Jacksonville, using the NE entrance off Vandalia Street. It features two running events on July 4: a 5K and a half mile fun run for participants 12 and under.

- Fun Run (12 and Under) (0.5 miles)
Registration opens March 30, 2026. 5K registration closes June 25, 2026; the kids fun run registration remains open through race day. Shirt requests should be submitted by June 24 to help guarantee size availability. Bib pickup is scheduled on July 2 at the Springfield Running Center and on July 3 at Heartland Bank in Jacksonville, with additional pickup available at Nichols Park on race morning.
Awards for the 5K will be presented to the top two male and female finishers overall and in the masters division, plus the following age groups: 13 and under; 14-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70 and over. All fun run finishers receive an award. Timing and results are provided by Final Lap Racing.
The race is planned to proceed in a range of weather conditions. Race directors reserve the right to delay or cancel the event if safety concerns arise. Registration fees are non refundable; in the event of cancellation fees may be retained as a contribution to Prairieland United Way while shirts and attendance prizes are still distributed.
