Bellmore Independence Day 4 Mile Run/Walk
This community road event in Bellmore takes place around Independence Day and includes a main 4 Mile run/walk plus a 1 Mile youth run. Registration for the upcoming edition is not yet open; a prior edition was held on July 4, 2026.
Amenities include tank tops for the first 600 entrants and refreshments available before the race, at every mile and at the finish. The 1 Mile youth race is open to runners age 12 and under and to walkers. Prize money is awarded in the 4 Mile to the top three overall male and female finishers and to top masters. Additional awards cover masters, law enforcement categories, wheelchair division, and multiple age groups from 13–18 through 90 and older. Team competition awards are given to the top three male and female open teams and top three masters teams, with team scoring based on a minimum of three combined times. Awards are not duplicated.
On-event bib pickup occurs at the finish area on Grand Avenue on race day; registrants who register at least three weeks before the race are eligible for a personalized race number. Registrants who enter within 24 hours of bib pickup receive a rapid texted bib number or can use a self-lookup station.
The course is certified, described as flat and fast with nine turns, starting on Pettit Avenue near the Bellmore railroad and finishing on Grand Avenue. Parking is available in the railroad lot; parking on the race course is prohibited. Donations from the event are directed to Long Island Track & Field.
